For producers, traders & service providers

Know what it takes
to become a supplier.

Targeting UN, NGO, government or defence buyers? Start with the actual opportunity and your role in the supply chain. Registration, certification and technical acceptance are distinct steps.

Requirements vary by buyer, solicitation, contract, product and source. A certificate or vendor registration alone does not establish product acceptance or guarantee an award.

OUR PLANNING ILLUSTRATION

Several gateways. A complete delivery plan.

Europe and China are illustrative producer locations. The port choices below are options to assess, not UN-mandated routes. Kinshasa is inland; the DRC has an Atlantic coastline.

An EOI is a market-research stage. Check the formal solicitation and amendments for the detailed requirements.

ILLUSTRATIVE PLANNING EXAMPLE
  1. 01 / SOURCE

    Producer in Europe

Confirm product requirements, production capability, traceability and the supporting evidence.

  2. 02 / DISPATCH

    Origin port & shipment

Connect packing, loading, transport documents and cargo protection with the booked shipping service.

  3. 03 / ARRIVAL

    Matadi · DRC

Check terminal suitability, handling arrangements and onward transport before arrival.

  4. 04 / RELEASE

    Clearance & port release

Prepare with the appointed customs and port agents before arrival. Complete applicable controls and obtain release before onward dispatch.

  5. 05 / ONWARD TRANSFER

    Matadi → Kinshasa

Plan road delivery, vehicle suitability, cargo protection, handovers and contingencies along the corridor.

  6. 06 / RECEIVING

    Kinshasa storage & delivery

Check incoming quantity, condition, seals and records. Maintain required storage conditions, traceability and stock controls before delivery to the designated point.

Europe → ocean shipment → Matadi → clearance and release → road delivery → Kinshasa.

Matadi and Boma are DRC maritime gateways. Port suitability, shipping availability and road conditions must be assessed for the particular cargo.

Compare the whole delivery plan.

Port charges, clearance readiness, transit requirements, cargo handling, cold-chain needs, road access, lead-time variability and receiving capacity all affect the decision.

Risk management & business continuity

Plan the alternative before you need it.

Assess the actual producer, product, facility and delivery chain. Geography alone does not establish quality or approval.

01 / ASSESS

Find the critical dependencies

Review supplier capability, product evidence, port suitability, clearance readiness, cargo protection, road access and warehouse capacity. Assign an owner to each material risk.

02 / MONITOR

Define the warning signs

Track stock coverage, replenishment lead times, release delays, temperature exceptions and route restrictions. Set escalation thresholds and decision responsibilities before dispatch.

03 / PREPARE & RESPOND

Qualify the fallback

Assess alternative suppliers, ports, corridors, carriers and storage. Confirm capacity, approvals and traceability before activation; exercise the response and review what changes.

Matadi planning focus: Assess dependence on the inland corridor, cargo protection and receiving capacity. Monitor release readiness and stock coverage; qualify a viable alternative before disruption.

Reserve quantities, acceptance criteria and permitted changes must follow the applicable solicitation and contract. These are planning prompts, not a completed shipment risk assessment.

02 / The approach

The system comes
before the bid.

04 / Behind NEXA

Headquarters: Maia, Porto, Portugal.
Focused on global operations.

A practical perspective
on complex operations.

JPV NEXA is the independent consultancy practice of José Paulo Viana.

The work connects contract management, quality and compliance, strategic sourcing, supply chains, risk and business continuity—drawing on experience in United Nations field operations and the private sector.

That perspective also supports business and product development: testing an opportunity against the requirements, resources and supplier capabilities needed to deliver it.

The aim is straightforward: help organisations understand what is required, identify what is missing, and connect the detail with practical delivery.
